Gasket selection
1. Selection of the gasket results from user’s expectations. He defines the most important quality parameters and criteria which the gasket needs to fulfil. Gasket quality parameters table includes the parameters, which SPETECH believes to be of utmost importance, together with the indexes showing how specific gasket types meet the quality requirements.
Gasket quality parameters table
1. Users can specify quality properties not included in the Table, but important from their point of view, e.g. accessability, ease of handling, storage, tagging, compliance with norms, etc.
2. If the specific parameter is considered to be of utmost importance for the given application, it is necessary to make the selection of the sealing solution only from gaskets of parameter index ˇÝ 6
3. Gasket selection made on the grounds of general quality parameters described in points 1 and 2 does not exclude detailed analysis of:
3.1 chemical compatibility with specific medium – see Resistance to Chemical Products Table p 21, 22.
3.2 temperature resistance of the specific gasket type – see tables on pages describing the gasket types;
3.3 suitability of the specific gaskets for the given flange arrangement calculated in accordance with selected and approved standard; gasket parameters necessary for calculations according to AD-Merkblatt, ASME S.VIII, UDT, EN 286-1, DIN 2505 1986 are included in Gasket Parameters Table on p 19, 20; permissible compression stresses in assembly temperature Qmax are included in the ta-bles on pages describing the gasket types.
4. SPETECH PARTNER or EURO-PARTNER software described on p. 17 can be used to verify gasket parameters.
